Newark filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno are following up their award-winning documentary on the 1967 Newark riots with a new film: The Rule, which profiles the world of St. Benedict’s Prep, a highly successful all-boys school in Newark. The film uses the school as a case study for what it will take to breathe new life into a city that is burdened by a poverty rate of 28 percent and an overall high school graduation rate of 22 percent.
